Halloween Morning can be like Christmas morning but better because well its HALLOWEEN!
I bought my boys PJ Pals Matching Halloween Pajamas from the Disney Store and placed them in matching pumpkin containers from the Dollar Tree and used leftover decorations from Halloween parties in the past to set the table.
For my 9 month old I drew a pumpkin design on his sweet potatoes, and bought him glow in the dark Halloween puffs from Gerber.
I then made the kids pancakes topped with whip cream and kisses for ghost eyes. I also used the kisses as ghost eyes when placed on half bananas.
When it was time for pickup I made hotdog Mummies. Simply take crescent triangles and cut into strips then wrap dogs accordingly. Bake according to package directions. Add eyes (Can be found in cake section at Walmart)
Happy Kids & Happy Halloween.
Located in Waterford Michigan this Halloween display has been a neighborhood favorite for 24 years. Every year the home owner puts up a multitude of displays. Parking is available on the side of the road. Donations are welcome but not mandatory. There is a walk through haunted house but I was unable to go through as I had a baby with me. With that said there was still family friendly fun.
The path included displays of a haunted forest of beheaded brides, clowns, over-sized skeleton clock, pumpkin vine overhead, a skeletal funeral procession, and a photo op in the back of a Cadillac with a friendly dressed up monster.
All in all it was worth the 20 minute drive and will be a tradition I will continue with my family here on out in Michigan.
Colder temps mean hotter drinks or perhaps stronger drinks but that is for a different blog post entirely. We have had some cool mornings and in an effort to warm the kiddos up I put together a hot chocolate bar.
I found a free printable online. I then printed, and framed. I gathered coffee mugs from the dollar tree and found sticker labels that I put on them to personalize for each child. Next I bought glass containers and filled them with chocolate kisses, marshmallows, and peppermint. I made stir sticks out of peppermint sticks, over-sized marshmallows, and a Hershey Bar. Next i gathered a tray and sequin tulle that I used as a table runner. All from you guessed it! The Dollar Tree!
The kids loved picking and choosing their toppings and fun was had by all.

Disney has once again transformed the ice and has brought magic into the attendee’s hearts both young and old as it presented “Reach For The Stars.’ In a world where feelings are exclaimed in catchy musical numbers and love is always brought home you cannot help but feel happiness in your heart.
Speaking of happiness, the new Little Caesars Arena is happily hosting this magical event. The brand new arena has been in the making for three years and just opened this past September. It is now home to Detroit Pistons and Detroit Redwings. It can hold up to 21,000 fans and has seating that was built underground and a bowl like setup. In our section specifically, there were bathrooms set aside for our sections only. Instead of getting crowds that are meeting friends or are walking around the bathrooms are made available to your section ticket holders only. From there we were able to walk up to street level and get food, snacks, and souvenirs. The bathrooms are state of the art and even include flat screen televisions. Restaurants are also in the arena including Kid Rocks ‘Made In Detroit.’ It is incredible and by the far the best arena I have been to.
Mickey, Minnie, Donald Duck, and Goofy opened the show and introduced the stories of The Little Mermaid, Tangled, Beauty & The Beast, and Frozen.
Ariel sings about her love for land and her longing to be a human. Ursula makes her wish come true but only if she finds true love. Just in time she finds her Prince and of course lives happily ever after.
Next up was Tangled. It was Rapunzel’s birthday and she was determined to leave the tower and see the outside world against her mothers wishes. She runs into a thief named Flynn and holds his satchel hostage in order for him to take her to the village. They set out on an adventure full of highs and lows but ultimately the princess finds her way back home, her throne.
I haven’t seen Beauty & the Beast on ice since I was a little girl. It was amazing to see it as an adult. Belle goes looking for her father but stumbles upon the mansion. The mansion is home to the Beast and both him and his staff are under a spell. Despite Belle being held captive by the Beast she befriends and falls in love with him. In the meantime, Gaston sets out to marry Belle once and for all and kill the beast. A battle ensues but the Beast and his staff are saved by true love. They turn back into human form and all live happily ever after.
They say to save the best for last and that they did. The biggest hit of the night was Disney’s ‘Frozen’. Catchy songs, real snow, and the love of two sisters took over the ice. It was amazing to hear thousands of children sing ‘Let It Go.’ Such an incredible moment that I was happy for my family and I to be part of.
Disney On Ice will be playing all this weekend at the Little Caesars Arena. Various times and ticket prices can be found here: http://www.ticketmaster.com/venueartist/66238/1742147?camefrom=CFC_oecom_DisneyOnIce&_ga=2.18819833.1502908836.1507910777-1931936894.1507243222
One of my favorite things to do with the kids around the holidays (both Halloween AND Christmas) is to look at light displays in and around town. The owner of this home and creator of the display is a graphic designer for Chrysler. His wife told us that his display has gotten bigger and bigger over the years and it’s a creative outlet for him to channel and for us to enjoy. We were blown away by the details and the elaborate set that was built in front of the house. Grab the kids after they finish homework and head over! A great FREE way to make memories and enjoy the season. That’s if you’re not too scared. 😉
